This year we received a record number of entries, with a combined total of 400+ applications and nominations, and every region of New Zealand represented. Below are the top-ten semi-finalists for each category, with the top-five finalists highlighted on the top line.

For The Better Good & Edible Earth
Based in Auckland
Due to the lack of composting infrastructure, Jayden has built his own allowing them to compost their own packaging - For the Better Good is a plant-based alternative to plastic packaging.
EmGuard
Based in Wellington
After learning that all of the little plant guards to protect young trees were made of plastic, Emma developed EmGuard – a bio-degradable solution to avoid plastic going to landfill.
FOODSTUFFS
Based in Wellington
Francesca manages Foodstuff’s Waste Minimisation Programme, working across 135 sites to help reduce the 500,000 tonnes of food that goes to landfill every year.
Squawk Squad
Based in Wellington
Squawk Squad’s education programmes have reached 45,000 Kiwi kids, inspiring them to become kaitiaki, and encouraging tangible actions like tree planting and protecting native birds.
Raglan Food Co.
Based in Waikato
Tesh runs Raglan Food Co – NZ’s first carbon-zero certified yoghurt company, and is on a mission to help accelerate the shift towards a plant-based diet and low-carbon future.
Reusabowl
Based in Wellington
Reusabowl exists to eliminate single-use waste and create solutions powered by the circular economy. Their reusable packaging for takeaway food eliminates waste and makes sustainability easy.
4 Tha Kulture
Based in Auckland
Working to increase access to advocacy and education of the impact of climate change on Pacific Islands and the Pasifika diaspora in New Zealand, especially for South Auckland youth.
Seaweed Solution
Based in Otago
Finnley is working to connect ideas and research to sell New Zealand’s first blue / marine carbon credit. He’s also in charge of the conservation and carbon budget at Lake Hawea Station.
Climate Live New Zealand
Based in Waikato
Timi has been involved in the School Strike for Climate movement, and is now leading a new chapter for the global Climate Live initiative in New Zealand.

Brooke is working to take the issue of plastic waste head on, with an edible biopackaging solution with two products on the market in New Zealand, and is exploring export opportunities.

Elisha and the team at Nisa work to produce ethical underwear, with an impact model that helps to support women from refugee backgrounds into sustainable employment.
Kete Kai
Based in Auckland
Iszac founded Kete Kai, a Māori led food box scheme with bold ambitions to make healthy food affordable, especially for whanāu and communities who face barriers.
Remojo
Based in Wellington
Owyn and the team at Remojo are working to reduce e-waste by refurbishing old devices and distributing them to groups and organisations in need.

Shaneel leads CTAG, which has worked with politicians that support a ban on gay and gender conversion therapy, and mental health services for survivors of conversion therapy.

Through Girlboss NZ, Alexia has built a network of more than 13,000 young women and is working to strengthen pathways into STEM and leadership positions.

Aigaglefili has been a vocal advocate for the impact of COVID on pacific peoples and pacific youth, and speaking up about inequity in the school system for Pacific students.
