THE IMPACT AWARD FOR CLIMATE.
We’re looking for inspiring young New Zealanders who are demonstrating leadership and taking action to help reduce carbon emissions and support the transition to a more resilient, low carbon future.
THE CONTEXT FOR ACTION.
Urgent action on climate change is one of the United Nations Global Goals for sustainable development, and has been called the defining issue of our time. We have an important role to play here in Aotearoa New Zealand too, and there are various people and organisations taking action and demonstrating real leadership on this issue.
IS THIS AWARD FOR YOU?
This category is relevant for any young New Zealander taking action to make a difference on climate change.
For example, you might be a young professional advocating for policy change(s) in your workplace or making your organisation carbon-neutral. You might be a student campaigning to get your school or university powered by 100% renewable energy. You might be leading initiatives or creating innovations to reduce carbon emissions in smart-transport or in agriculture. The opportunity for leadership and innovation in the climate space is huge.
If you’re working to create solutions to address the climate changes we face, and are looking for support to amplify your impact, you should apply.
WHAT WILL THE JUDGES BE LOOKING FOR?
As well as the general criteria, the Judges will be interested in knowing:
– What difference are you working to make around climate change?
Is it about raising awareness? Changing policy, or systems? Reducing emissions? Supporting resilient communities?
